Volunteer Report

It is difficult for me to find the words to accurately describe what I saw, felt, and experienced while in eastern Kentucky. We drove through neighborhood after neighborhood where most homes had major water damage. Many people had their belongings in heaps beside the road waiting to be hauled to a dumpsite. Some live in tents in their yards; and some stay in their half torn apart houses, while they clean up bit by bit because they have no other place to go. The loss is nearly unfathomable, and the hopelessness almost tangible; however, the kindness and caring of and for each other and their communities is incredible to witness.
