Today, we talked with the government volunteer coordinator for the Mayfield area. They want to locate and recover all bodies before sending volunteers in. By tomorrow afternoon they will be ready for cleanup teams to come in.
We had 2 guys out, who went to other areas, talking with mayors, police departments, and assessed damage. They will be traveling the tornado path and should have multiple locations ready for teams of people within a several hours.
There are about 5 teams and 7 individuals waiting to respond, with more applications coming in. Our base of operations will be the a local retreat center who has opened their doors for the operation.
Blessings Of Hope is providing food, Light Of Hope is in charge of management and leadership. The Campbellsville Kingdom Community is providing logistics and support and the retreat center is providing beds, meals, and a hub for operations. Plain Compassion is currently organizing and recruiting volunteers and equipment.
Our goal is to have several hundred volunteers on the ground in several days, which PCCR will deploy along the 200 mile span of tornado damage. We already have an area 3 hours from here that can use several teams.
Light Of Hope is providing an RV for us to use as a command post. The command post was set up this afternoon, along with systems to support an operation of this size.
Pray for us. It looks big, but it does look possible.
There is an opening for someone to volunteer as a driver to drive a load of volunteers from Lancaster County Pa. The volunteers plan to leave early Wednesday morning the 15th, we are also looking for a 15 passenger van to transport the volunteers because our van is currently in Mayfield. There is also a massive opportunity for volunteers, individuals or teams, to come in and help with the damage cleanup and restoration. We have needs for skid loaders with grapple buckets, and generators.
