Morocco Recap

This week marks a year since the earthquakes in Morocco destroyed the lives and homes of about 300,000 people in the Atlas mountain range. As we look back, we’re grateful to have had a part in bringing hope back into their hearts and lives. Morocco will always have a special place in our hearts.

In just over three months, approximately 3,000 pounds of aid were distributed and 569 insulated shelters were supplied and installed in 23 villages, providing safe and warm space for roughly 3,500 people to survive the winter. Over 10,000 hours of labor were volunteered, with the PCCR team alone volunteering about 3,700 hours of their time to make this project happen.

The note on the right was recently posted on one of the group chats by someone who was deeply involved. It is a wonderful encouragement to see it impact continue on, long after we’re gone.

To everyone who has poured into this project: Thank you! Words fail to express what is in our hearts, it is an amazing blessing to have your support.

"As we remember this evening, a year ago today when so much changed, I want to acknowledge each of you and the impact you had in my life during the response, as well as the impact you made in so many other people’s lives, bringing love and care through the sacrificial giving of your time, energy and resources, in so many different ways. I am filled with awe in remembering the ways each of you showed me that God was with us, and how I saw His reflection in the courage and grace and love and gentleness you showed through your serving. And so many hurting and desperate people got to see that too, and this brings our Father so much joy. May you always remember all the ways He was before us, beside us, and in front of us…and continues to be!"
