Thailand Update 9/12

Funding need for two private medical rooms
Every morning and evening our team goes to the “Home” to help the nurse with bandaging wounds and treating the medical needs of the children. We have approximately 45-50 kids that we treat daily. Some children have fevers, and/or rashes, bug bites that get infected, sore throats, which can be from allergies, common colds or in many cases, tonsillitis. Stomach aches can sometimes be serious and they need to be taken to the hospital, or sometimes it turns out they just need love. We’ve had outbreaks of scabies, lice, and more lately, the flu. We currently use a small area in the back of the main office as a medical room, where children may need to undress for treatment. We have a small divider for privacy, but it’s hard to keep the others from peeking in from curiosity to see what’s happening with their friend and would like to have a space that provides better privacy, especially separating the genders for their sake.
Our plan is to have two separate rooms, to be able to effectively treat as many children as we need in a timely manner, and be able to separate the genders for children who need to stay the night and receive medicine/special care. This would include beds for children with fevers or for any kid that needs to be monitored, as well as have air conditioning to create a stable room temp during the hot season.
Hopefully these improvements can help us as a team, and the staff here at the “Home”, care for the children better, and create a safe environment for the children to come and receive the love and care they need.
Thank you so much for your generous support and prayers!

Expense breakdown:
$6,000 for adding two medical rooms, complete with eight beds each and a treatment area
$2,500 – AC Units to keep the temperature regulated
$5,000 – Medical cabinet with locks and supplies to stock it
Total: $13,500
