The need for shelter has only become more clear as we started working here. Although the official rainy season is still a few months out, there have been heavy downpours every day so far!
The first house roof has been completed and after 6 months of living with nothing but a few pieces of tin over the most used areas of their house, the dear lady and her mom were so thankful to have a proper roof over their heads again. Our next project on the priority list is to build a Jamaican style board house. Twice the size of the average one, this one measures 17’ x 21’, and consists of ply sides and a metal roof. These projects will be our main focus. Currently we have a list of 20 homes waiting for us, and many more people are in need of help.
It’s also been amazing to reconnect with some of the people we helped last year, and we trust we can continue to do that over our time here.
