Last week, we were able to put a tarp on a roof for a dear elderly gentleman. This particular man stands out in my memory because when I first talked to him, he told me about all the hard things that had happened to him because of the storm. He said he had been asking God why He didn’t just let him die. He knew he shouldn’t be praying like that, but life just felt so hard in that moment.
He helped us find the lumber we needed by digging through the piles of roof bits that were scattered throughout the lawn. As we were working together, his demeanor slowly started to change. By the end, he was in tears as he thanked us over and over. As we stood in a circle while the pastor prayed over all of us, my heart was overwhelmed at the incredible opportunity we have to meet these amazing people and hopefully make this hard time a little more bearable.
Please continue to pray for the people of Jamaica. Most of them are very familiar with the concept of God and who He is, but pray that through this, their relationship with Him could become more personal and be strengthened.
