Some days here in Jamaica, nothing goes as planned. But today was not one of those days. We left base in the morning to find houses we could tarp. After we had tarped one house and handed out several other tarps, we went to another home where a dear elderly woman was having problems with water coming through her ceiling.
It was lunchtime when we arrived, so we sat on her porch, ate our little snack lunch, and listened as she shared her fears with a local gentleman. Her pastor had told her, “Don’t die until you’re dead.” In other words, don’t let fear steal your life.
I couldn’t help but compare her situation to my own dear grandma back home and hope that, if she were ever in a crisis, someone would take time for her if we couldn’t be there ourselves.
After we finished tarping the woman’s roof, she was so grateful and wanted to pray for us. She prayed that one day we could all be in heaven together, praising Jesus. That is my prayer, too.
Please continue to keep our team here in Jamaica in your prayers—pray that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus, that we would have wisdom to know where and whom to reach, and that we would continue to receive the resources we need to help the people here.
