Jamaica Rebuild: A Promise of Hope

As my first week here in Jamaica comes to an end, what stands out to me the most is how people who have lost so much still have so much gratitude. We built a house this past week, and as I pounded the last nail in, a rainbow peaked over the mountain. Hope shining down as the family walked inside for the first time. We gathered in the finished house to pray with them and bless their new home. The man began singing, “Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.” So much joy to have something I’ve taken for granted all my life!
Would I still be singing and praising God if I lost my home? Would I still have joy if my roof didn’t hold out the rain? I pray that I could learn to praise in the good times and the bad the way these people have shown me.
Thank you for praying for our work and contributing to the rebuilding of lives and homes.
