Hurricane Debby 8/18

I flew down to Sarasota FL on Friday the 9th. The mission was to see how bad the flooding is and to connect with local businesses and churches in the area that were willing to help us out.
We almost immediately found a spot to park the RV and a local inn was willing to give us free rooms for volunteers.
In the first few days we were almost overwhelmed with people calling and needing help. There were also a lot of local volunteers showing up which was amazing but the logistics and management of everything was pretty intense.
On Tuesday of the following week I flew back home to my family in Indiana and spent a few days getting things squared away at home and then we all packed up and headed to Florida on Thursday evening. We drove through the night and got here on Friday.
I am currently sitting on the patio in my swimming trunks watching my children play in the pool of our AirBnb that some good samaritan let us have for almost free.
Turns out there are some perks to this job after all.
