WARM Project

providing heating sources for 1000 households in Mitchell County, NC.

20 24

It’s now been a couple weeks since Hurricane Helene devastated Mitchell County, NC, and the surrounding areas. Recovery efforts have been progressing nicely. However, 40% of the local community is still lacking electricity with no idea of when it will be restored. With winter rapidly approaching, another need will soon become more urgent. Heat.

The Warm Project was created to help meet this urgent need by supplying an estimated 1,000 vulnerable households in the greater Mitchell County area and beyond with a source of heat.

We will be working with local churches to find those who are in need and to distribute the supplies to them.

This need has been met and the project got closed down in December 2024. Thank you for your support! Over 1,500 households were served in the western North Carolina area.

Here is an exciting update on the WARM Project!

Here is an exciting update on the WARM Project!

As we race to provide heat to over 1000 vulnerable households within the surrounding communities, we have been blown away by the generosity shown by everyone who has donated to our cause in any form. There is still work to be done and families to warm, but we are pleased to say that because of your compassionate giving, over 600 households within the surrounding communities have been served through the Warm Project so far! We have also reached our fundraising goal of $325,000 for the WARM Project! We are committed to being good stewards of the resources we have been entrusted with to meet the most vulnerable needs at hand. We at PCCR value transparency and living the Gospel in the most authentic way possible and that begins with our relationship with you! Due to the inspirational excess of donations we are looking to continue working with the same local Church’s that spearheaded our Warm Project, to identify community members with the most emerging needs and we will be allocating all additional donations into this rebuilding effort.

To understand our vision, it is important to understand the day to day adversity we see these resilient people facing. This past evening we became aware of 18 families that have been bathing in the river since the storm which is currently toxic due to the failed sewage plants in the area, and are in desperate need of heat and water. We immediately opened the distribution center after hours so these families could come after the work day to get the water, supplies and food they needed. Today we will setup a potable water tank for them and keep them supplied going forward. There are pockets of worthy needs identical to this in the rebuilding effort that we see emerging from the massive flooding and household damage present, and we are committed to help facilitate the purchasing of materials needed to service them appropriately.
Our fundraising focus will transition to allocate the funds to source rebuilding materials for the most vulnerable families in our area and we at PCCR will continue working closely with the local churches to identify these needs.

Thank you for your prayers! We see God moving each day, guiding us to those in need and giving us strength to carry on.
God bless!

Target Areas

Mitchell County

Some of the greatest needs are in prisons, where the prisoners haven’t been getting much food for days or weeks, and numerous prisoners have already starved to death. We are already feeding the people in one prison and will be starting in another prison next week. Local pastors and churches are doing the work of cooking and feeding the prisoners, as well as ministering to their spiritual and emotional needs. Some of the prisoners have already accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their lives.

In the first week of November, we started assisting with the food needs of the people living on an island off the coast of Haiti.

At this point, we are still able to purchase food from what little remains in the country. It’s a complex situation. Haiti has been almost destroyed by humanitarian aid, and we have no desire to further that problem. However, we do have a desire to come alongside the people and keep them alive until they can get going again. Pray for wisdom and direction for us and all the people involved.

Flood Response

Leogane, Haiti got hit very badly by floods that sent a wall of 8 feet of water through the town

In the beginning of June, we sent a team in to help with a flood response in Leogane, Haiti. Haiti had been experiencing droughts, followed by torrents of rain. Typically, the amount of rain would not cause floods, but the waterways, which are normally serviced by the
