A Close Encounter With A Drone

The morning started out like most other mornings. We have evacuations—we drive to where we meet the local police. We grab some coffee, a little breakfast, and go over the requests.

It sounds like it should be a quick day. We have three different addresses to go to. Should be quick, and we’ll be able to grab everyone in one trip.

As we head in, we have two drones that land close by.

We go to the first address. The lady there didn’t have her things together. We told her we’d go to some other places and get her on the way back.

As we near our second location, we come across a fresh drone strike. One man was lying on the road in critical condition. Two more were also wounded. So we loaded them into our vehicle and headed straight for the hospital.

On our way out, we get hit by a drone! Praise the Lord—none of us were seriously injured! The armor held up pretty well, although one of the police officers took a piece of shrapnel to the leg.

The engine wouldn’t start, and both front tires were flat, so there was no going anywhere. We called for backup. Some more police arrived, picked up the wounded, and then came back for the rest of us.

I thank God and praise Him for His continual protection over us. It’s just a miracle that we all made it out alive and that there were no serious injuries.

Thank you all for your prayers. Please continue to pray for the work, and also please pray for peace—a lasting peace, and one that will be made in such a way that people can return to their home areas.
