There is no way to really explain the feeling of having so much death around you. You can see the statistics and hear the reports, but nothing truly prepares you for when you physically see it right in front of you. I first thought about this when I saw the war memorials in Kyiv. It actually made me sick. And those memorials didn’t even include the civilians who have died from enemy strikes. There is so much death everywhere. I think about it every time I see updates about an explosion that happened throughout the day. So many people die every day that it can almost begin to feel as though people are simply objects rather than beings with a soul. It makes you feel so helpless. Somewhere, someone just lost their son or daughter, and maybe they don’t even know it yet. The darkness of death can feel as though it consumes everything, and you feel so powerless to stop it. HOWEVER, the truth is that even the darkness is as light to the Creator of the world. He knows each and every person who has died. Death has no power over our God, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
