Venezuela: The Kindness of God

On our way to help remove rubble in La Guaira, caraballera one morning we passed a woman walking sad and with tears. We kept walking a little more, but we felt the Holy Spirit whispered Go back.”
We listened as she shared the weight she was carrying. She had lost two nieces and three nephews whose bodies had not yet been found, and her brother was in the hospital. She needed a way to get back to the hospital, to see her brother, overwhelmed by grief and uncertainty.
As we stood there praying, we were overwhelmed by the kindness of God. Out of all the people walking those streets that day, the Holy Spirit led us to her. It wasn’t an interruption to our ministry—it was the ministry. It reminded us that sometimes God is less concerned about the task we’re to accomplish and more concerned about the one person He wants us to notice.
In that moment, we couldn’t change her circumstances, but we could be present. We listened, prayed with her, and reminded her that even in the deepest pain , God had not abandoned her. , Jesus sees every tear and remains close to the brokenhearted.
It was such a powerful reminder that the Holy Spirit truly lives within us. He doesn’t just comfort us—He leads us to those who need His love. Sometimes His prompting is as simple as, “Go back.” And on the other side of our obedience is someone who desperately needs to encounter the compassion of Christ. This encounter deeply impact us. Sometimes the greatest act of service isn’t what our hands can build or clean up—it’s making room for someone to be seen, heard, loved, and pointed to Jesus.
May we never become too busy, too distracted, or too focused on our plans that we miss His voice. Lord, make us sensitive to Your Spirit and willing to stop for the one who needs you..
