Jamaica: From A Volunteer

I’ve been here in MoBay for a little over 2 weeks now and it’s just been so crazy to see that even after 6 months since the storm, people are still here just living in shacks that drip from rain or living with family in a house thats hardly better. Last week I was hit with a dose of reality when we went to a house and the mother and 3 children were all sleeping in a 5 by 7 bathroom. Thats hard for us to see and believe as Americans who, whether we think so or not, have it so much better then these locals. And despite all that, they are absolutely beaming with joy when we finish the house that we considered mid. We’ve been blessed in so many ways while we’re down here whether through housing, funding, a great evening with the team, or the gentleman your working for singing you gospel music on your lunch break. I’m very grateful for the chance to be able to serve down here with PCCR, and am hoping for many more such opportunities. Also thankful for all the prayers, the great team, and all the encouragment given in this project.
