Ukraine: From a Volunteer

As I look back over my time here in Ukraine it seems like I just got here but at the same time it feels like I’ve been here for a while. There are so many thoughts and emotions running through my mind that I’m not sure how recap my time here in a few short paragraphs.
I’ve made so many friends here which makes it all the harder to leave. Whether it was other volunteers, the Chaplin we work with, the cops we work with, or even the people that stay at our shelter for a short time. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know and work with some amazing people and made memories that will last a lifetime. One thing I always enjoyed was working around the language barrier. Some people understand and spoke a little English so they loved to try and talk to you. I enjoyed trying my limited Ukranian vocabulary on them. We would talk to each other and try and understand what was being said then when we said something wrong we would soon be laughing together as we correct what was said. Those are memories I’ll cherish for a lifetime.
There are many more things I could say but I’m gonna end with this. God is good. No matter where life takes us or what journey we are going through God is always with us and taking care of us. Its something that really stuck out to me in my time here in Ukraine.
