Update from the team in NC

The city of Asheville NC has been out of power and cell service since the disaster took place. Most of the residents of Asheville have not left the area and the need for food, water and the essentials is greatest there. We have been working with the EOC in Asheville to set up distribution of food and water and have also set up several food trucks serving hot food.

The town of Swananoa has pretty much been taken off the map. Many of the residents left, simply because there is nothing to keep them there. We are currently working with a local church to do food distributions. The locals are setting up zones of responsibility for cleanup in Swananoa and we are plugging into their network and working with them as much as we possibly can.
There is also work happening in Black Mountain, a small town just up I40 from Swananoa. The situation here in Black Mountain is similar to Swananoa, with lots of houses and business simply wiped out. There is mud everywhere in parking lots, houses and on roads.

In addition, there are many small roads up into the mountains that are completely closed and we are working to get those roads opened and get food and water up to the people who still do not have access to the rest of the world.
