Ukraine: From A Volunteer

The thing that hits me the hardest here in Ukraine is what war does to children.

So many have been forced to leave their homes, their schools, their friends, and everything they’ve ever known. Just when they begin to adjust to a new place, life changes again. There is very little stability, and that’s what children need the most.

Many of them are also growing up without their fathers because they’re serving on the front lines or have been killed in the war.

It’s easy to notice the destroyed buildings and damaged roads, but the hardest part of this war is the impact it has on the next generation. Those are the scars that will last long after the fighting is over.
