Ukraine: A Day of Evacuations

We set out in the early morning with several different requests for evacuation. Each with their own story. We arrived to the first area and were having difficulty finding the house of the woman we were to evacuate. In the meantime, we came across another older lady and our chaplain persuaded her to evacuate. She was living in the cold and didn’t have much to eat. She left her home behind, bringing along only her cane, purse, and the clothes on her back. We then were able to locate the other lady. However, despite a phone call with her son who was serving in the military, she still refused to evacuate. It was such a helpless feeling having to leave her behind. But it was her home, her life, and her choice. We then moved on to another place to pick up a woman who had an injury and needed attention at the hospital. We dropped her off and headed to our last stop, where a woman was waiting for us. While driving, she asked me “are you not afraid?” I said “sometimes, but people are praying and that gives me peace.” It is strange how peace can be felt in a war torn environment. A peace I believe is a result of your prayers, which I am beyond gratful for. A peace that only God can give.
Thanks to your prayers, financial support and the mighty power of God, we are able to continue evacuations such as these, giving these individuals another chance at life.
