The children’s home here in Thailand is bustling with activity as school is now in full swing. We’ve started the financial assistance for food expenses at the children’s home and have already seen a great improvement in the food that is served to the children.
Our team is working closely with a pastor who teaches 3 different grades. He is from the Akha ethnic group of Burma, which is the same ethnic group as most of the Burmese children. He is the only one that can speak their language and so was given the task to teach them Thai, English and Math, in addition to Bible classes that he originally signed up for. While he is occupied with teaching one or two of his grades, we step in to engage the others with activities until their next class with him. This means planning and executing activities and caring for up to 70 children at a time.
As of now there are around 500 children at the school. There are so many ways and opportunities to help and positively impact their lives. Pray for our team on the ground and for the children themselves. Many of them have experienced more trauma than we can imagine and as much as having their basic needs met, they desperately need to experience love and healing from the pain in their past.
