Louisiana: Kindness in the Midst of Loss

If this isn’t what you’re I continue to be amazed by the resilience of the people here in Louisiana after the flooding. So many have lost their furniture, cabinets, flooring, and so much more.

We came here hoping to be a blessing, but so often it feels like it’s the other way around—they are blessing us.

The other day, as I was walking back from the laundry trailer, I passed a church where the pastor and his wife were working to clean everything out on their own. Much of their congregation is elderly, and they didn’t want anyone helping because of the mold present in the building. Despite the devastation their church had experienced, the pastor’s wife still took the time to offer me a ride because it was such a warm day.

Even in the midst of loss and hardship, these people continue to show kindness, generosity, and care for others. I pray that I will become more like the people I’m meeting here and that God will open my eyes to the needs around me, wherever I am.
