Flood cleanup can be depressing. It’s hard, dirty labor. One spends an entire day cleaning out wet, destroyed furniture and clothes. We pile up huge mounds at the end of the road. After that, it’s time to gut the house so mold doesn’t grow. Gutted houses don’t look pretty. We don’t even get to see the start of the rebuilding process. I look down the street and I see more and more houses that also need emptied and gutted. It can feel almost hopeless.
It feels hopeless until I stop and think about the individual person who owns the house I’m emptying. What great value God has placed upon them. I listen to their stories and when I see the smiles on their faces and hear their grateful thank you’s, I know it was 💯 worth it. Because when something is done for Jesus, it is always worth doing.
