Jamaica is a beautiful country full of beautiful people, but right now, it’s a country that is reeling from all the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa. As we deliver aid and see the needs of these people, it’s an eye-opening reality into what they’re facing at the moment.
Today we split into teams and went to deliver aid to different addresses that our scout teams found in need of help. We went to a children’s home and dropped off food. The lady who runs the home was very grateful and kept saying how they needed food, so she prayed—and was so thankful to see how God provided.
We’ve been blessed to be able to serve alongside some other incredible organizations. Jamaican Relief Ministries is a children’s home that has graciously opened their space to us as temporary living quarters. Even though we don’t have running water and electricity is dependent on generators, we are incredibly grateful to them. We’ve been helping them clean up debris around the property and spent a couple of hours cleaning up sheetrock inside some of their buildings. We are also working closely with Chazak Rescue. It’s been a blessing to partner with their knowledgeable team.
Please pray for our team as we seek to serve the people here, and also pray for the Jamaican people as they try to recover from the chaos. Pray that God would give us opportunities to encourage His people here, and that through this, their faith in Him would be strengthened.
